Here at Littlecoates Primary Academy, we intend to provide children with the essential foundations required for successful writing at secondary school and beyond. Igniting a love of the English language and writing, our aspiration for each child at Littlecoates is for them to leave us as articulate, literal individuals ready to continue their journey as a lifelong learner.

Our writing is designed so that by the end of Year 6, children will be able to write for a variety of purposes, and in a real life situation, essential for the next step in their education.

There are 4 types of writing that will be covered in the English curriculum: narrative - writing to entertain; and non-fiction - writing to inform, writing to persuade and writing to discuss. Children will also cover a variety of poetry forms, building up a repertoire.
